Seeking Restoration and Balance - How Green Holiday Jewelry Can Help

Posted by on

When I moved to D.C., I died a little inside.

Everyone looked the same.

The women wear black, navy, or khaki dress suits. And the men? I've nicknamed the blue color most men in DC wear - government blue.

Did I miss a city-wide memo or something?

I’m not a loud, in-your-face, type of girl -- until we're best friends; then I won't shut up. But, I do want to be seen. And I want to stand out in a crowd of samsies.

That’s why I love color. It’s a way to be seen, to stand out, without having to be obnoxious.

Color also communicates a message -- to yourself and others. Personally, I love understanding what message I’m sending out to the world each day.

Does my necklace say ‘take me seriously’ or ‘take me to Disney world’? Either way’s fine, TBH.

That’s why I started the Boost Your ‘Tude series; to dive into the psychology behind colors, so I can choose the image I present to the world and boost my mood.

Since it’s the holiday season, my first color psychology tutorial is all about the color green and how you can incorporate it into your holiday party attire.

Seeking Restoration and Balance - How Green Holiday Jewelry Can Help

Contrary to popular belief, it’s easy being green (unfortunately, Kermit wasn’t available for comment on this new revelation).

Balance, Renewal, and Growth

When you read the word ‘green’, what do you visualize?

I see fresh-cut grass on a summer day. Or the rind of a cucumber before I slice it.

To get rid of the bags under my eyes, of course. Cucumber doesn’t really have a taste, IMO.

Green is often associated with growth, renewal, and rebirth. It’s a positive color that inspires harmony between your mind and your heart. - Click to Tweet

And fun fact, it’s the easiest color on our eyes. It doesn’t require ocular adjustment and can even reduce fatigue. Exploding Head on Google

And for your moment of woo, the color green represents your heart chakra. It is a soothing and calming color and is most often associated with nature which makes it the perfect color for when you need a mental refresh.

Wearing Green to A Holiday Party

Unless your holiday party has a strict dress code, might I suggest wearing a dress in a color that isn't black, white, or red?

With the holidays right around the corner, you might feel stressed or overwhelmed.

Alleviate some of your stress by incorporating pops of green in your wardrobe, like this Pacific Coast Green chain bracelet. The sterling silver chain is lightweight and minimal and this shade of green is soothing; a solid remedy when you want to quiet your mind or soul from the holiday madness.

Your Favorite Color Might Be Green If...

You're practical and down-to-earth. You’re kind and generous. During a crisis, you remain calm while others freak-the-f-out.

But, you’re also social.

You feel right at home during networking events. In fact, mix a couple of green bracelets at your next event. It’ll add interest to your outfit and help you stand out in the sea of neutral colors.

A Renewed Year

Remember, when the holiday madness kicks in full force, grab a pair of green stud earrings or a green bracelet to calm and soothe your frazzled nerves. And given that the color green helps you feel renewed, I think we'll all be wanting to wear more green this year.

Aside from your ugly Christmas sweater, how can you add green to your wardrobe this new year?
